In 1986, audemars piguet introduced reference ba25644 to the public.
It marked a milestone as the first automatic wrist chronograph with date ever to be launched. Reference ba25644 is part of the prestigious huitième collection, which appeared in some italian market catalogues in 1988 under the name "huitième". This collection was an important step for audemars piguet, as it introduced a new and modern design language. The 25644 was technically sophisticated, but more elegant than the sportier royal oak. It was also the first audemars piguet model to be offered not only in yellow gold and platinum, but also in tantalum.
This huitième features an elegant 18 k yellow gold case and a champagne-coloured dial with gold indexes, tachymeter scale, and date display. The black print ensures optimal legibility. The serial number "c" indicates that this example is certainly one of the earliest pieces of this reference.
The watch shows age-appropriate signs of wear. The area around the subdials for small seconds and the 30-minute counter has darkened slightly over time.
Today, the ba25644 is a sought-after collector's piece for connoisseurs who appreciate classic chronographs beyond the well-known royal oak line.
