Original Handcrafted Engraved Gulabdani – Holy Water or Rosewater Sprinkling Bot
This is a beautifully crafted vintage Persian or Indo-Persian rosewater sprinkler, measuring approximately 30cm in height and weighing around 400 grams, made of silver-plated metal and entirely decorated with detailed hand-engraved floral and foliate motifs. The elegant bulbous body rests on a flared foot with radiating leaf patterns, while the tall neck features alternating bands of chased decoration and smooth rings, ending in a traditional domed cap with a small opening. The engraving, done by hand using the traditional chasing technique, displays exceptional precision and symmetry across the surface, with clovers, scrolls, and stylized vines typical of mid-20th century craftsmanship from Iran (Isfahan) or Northern India. This type of vessel, known as a golâbdân, was used to sprinkle rosewater during cultural and ceremonial occasions such as weddings or Nowruz, and today it stands as a decorative and collectible example of Islamic metalwork tradition. Its condition is very good for its age, showing minor natural patina that enhances its antique character.
